CUCC's Ministries
Columbia United Christian Church (CUCC) recognizes that people find God in many ways. We seek to support and affirm them in their spiritual journeys. Each person is welcomed and encouraged to make a contribution to a better world according to his or her beliefs and talents.
We believe that God calls us to follow Christ?s example by living lives of love, compassion, and service to others and to all of God?s creation. As Christians, it is our mission to be witnesses to Christ alive in the world through loving service to those in physical, emotional, and spiritual need; to advocate for justice for all of God?s children; to support each other in our individual faith journeys; and to be mindful stewards of the earth.
Our ministries reflect our commitment to live by Christ?s example. The mission of each CUCC ministry falls into one of three categories: social outreach, our shared life, and church growth.
CUCC?s social outreach activities are coordinated by the Caring in Action Commission and the Peace & Justice Commission. Caring in Action works with regional programs and organizations that respond to the needs of the marginalized as well as the needs of the community at large. Peace & Justice supports activities and organizations that work to end conflict and oppression locally and globally. The Nurture Commission provides in care services to members of our congregation who are in need, and fosters fellowship and enriches our shared life by coordinating hospitality events. Finally, the well-being of our church organization is supported by the efforts of the Stewardship Commission and Church Vitality Committee. Stewardship is responsible for monitoring CUCC?s financial health?which is supported by monetary pledges and other fundraising activities?as well as cataloging the congregation?s time and talents. Church Vitality maintains our website, orchestrates our publicity drives, and strives to expand the reach of CUCC?s mission.
