Upcoming Fundraisers to Fight Cancer PDF Print E-mail

A 4-member "CUCC Riders" team participated in the annual Gelfman Ride Across Maryland on Saturday, June 5.

Report from the 2010 ride:  The CUCC Riders team contributed $3,020 to Ride Across Maryland, June 5-6. The grand total for this year's ride was $300,000 to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation (breast cancer). This was the 10th year for RAM, bringing the total contribution to $2 million. All of this money goes to the Komen Foundation. Ride sponsors pay for the other expenses. CUCC Riders this year were Cindy, Jeff, Lena, and Howard. A member of CUCC will participate in the North Ann Arundel Relay for Life on Saturday, June 12, as a member of the Booz Allen Hamilton team. Contact Sylvia B. if you'd like to make a contribution or join the team, or visit the team page.

Several CUCC members will participate in the AFLAC Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon on Sunday, August 22. One of them is a member of Team in Training and is raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Contact Laurie B. or visit her page to make a donation.

CUCC will field a team of runners and walkers in Baltimore's Race for the Cure on Sunday, October 3. Proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation (breast cancer). The recruitment goal is 20 CUCCers; the fundraising goal is $4K. Typically CUCCers do not need any extra incentive to bond over food. But the particular combination of ingredients--food, fellowship and fun(ds)--at an October 2009 Let's Dish party proved to be a winning recipe.

On October 10, 2009, visitors to the Oakland Mills Cultural Arts Festival transformed CUCC's bare "Community Tree" into a spectacle of fall colors with expressions of thanks for their community and well wishes for each other.

Elijah Makes Guest Appearance at Beach Retreat PDF Print E-mail

In Summer 2009, the Sunday school children crisscrossed the globe, "visiting" the home countries of several CUCC members and friends to learn about the culture, history, and customs, as well as the games of their youth.
